Abstract

Household waste management is an important part of creating a healthy environment. Poorly managed waste can cause pollution, bad odors, become a breeding ground for disease vectors, and reduce environmental quality. This article aims to illustrate the importance of education on household waste management in the Dukuh Pakis area of Surabaya. The method used is descriptive, based on literature studies and the latest secondary data. The results show that education about sorting waste at home, reducing waste, reusing items, and utilizing waste banks needs to be continuously improved. By 2026, the Surabaya City Government also plans to strengthen waste management from the source by encouraging household waste sorting and developing Zero Waste Villages.
